Opportunity Description

As a Legal Secretary, working in the Commercial & Criminal Practice Group, in the Newark, NJ office, you will fulfill a wide variety of administrative functions for all team members

Job Duties

  • Provide administrative support to attorneys and legal professionals
  • Prepare and draft legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and contracts
  • Conduct legal research
  • Assist with document review and case management
  • Maintain and organize legal files and documents
  • Schedule appointments, meetings, and court hearings
  • Transcribe dictations and prepare correspondence
  • Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and witness lists
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail and phone calls

Experience & Skills Required

  • Legal Secretarial Assistant: 5 years (Required)
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Legal Secretary and working in the Commercial & Criminal Litigation practice group, is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of legal administrative procedures and practices
  • Proficient in legal research techniques and e-filing procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence
  • Ability to conduct thorough legal case management, including organizing files and documents
  • Attention to detail for accurate transcription of dictations and maintaining precise records
  • Familiarity with clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, and scheduling appointments
  • This position requires a candidate who is organized, detail-oriented, and has a strong understanding of legal procedures. 
  • The ability to work independently while also being a team player is essential.
