Opportunity Description

Our client, a large railroad vehicle manufacturer, is searching for an Electrical Assembly Technician to join their growing team in South Plainfield, NJ!

Job Duties

  • Troubleshoot all electrical and mechanical parts and assemblies.
  • Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical orders to determine methods and sequences of assembly and tests.
  • Solve mechanical or electronics problems involved in the operation of test equipment.
  • Support the design of test procedures.
  • Test performance of electromechanical assemblies, using test instruments such as oscilloscopes, electronic voltmeters, load cells, temperature gauges, electrostatic meters, calipers, and other precision measuring equipment.  Conduct field-testing and provide field support
  • Install electrical parts and hardware in test equipment utilizing  soldering equipment and hand tools.
  • Solve mechanical or electronics problems involved in the operation of test equipment.
  • Record and analyze test results and prepare written testing documentation.

Experience & Skills Required

  • An Associates, Bachelor's degree, or certification from accredited institution in Engineering Technology or Electronics Technology is preferred
  • Passenger Rail Car Maintenance/Service Experience is a plus
  • Previous experience troubleshooting is required
  • Must be proficient in troubleshooting electrical, electronic and pneumatic controls, rebuild pumps, valves, regulators, and have an excellent understanding of warranty repairs.
  • Must be able to read and interpret electrical schematic diagrams and utilize a variety of testing equipment for troubleshooting of equipment and systems to the board level.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem solving skills.
