Opportunity Description

Our client is seeking an Executive Director of Memory Care to join our dynamic team!

 

Located on a 32-acre campus overlooking the Hudson River, in Riverdale, New York, it provides a full range of care solutions including nursing home care, managed long-term care, assisted living programs, senior housing, rehabilitation services, and specialized services such as elder abuse prevention and memory care.

 

The role of the Memory Care Life Enrichment Executive Director is pivotal for enhancing the quality of life for our residents living with memory impairment.  This role requires a strong blend of empathy, creativity, effective leadership, and organizational skills. This position will oversee all areas of the Hebrew Home at Riverdale’s memory care units.

Job Duties

Key Responsibilities:

 

Leadership & Strategic Planning

• Working in conjunction with Therapeutic Arts Enrichment Program Director, Lead, oversees the execution of memory care programs and activities

• Inspiring and guiding teams, fostering collaboration, and promoting a positive organizational culture

• Train and mentor team members on best-in-class practices for working with individuals with memory loss

•Assures staff orientation and annual training.

• Maintains ongoing resources and support for staff 

• Develop a therapeutic environment 

• Oversee our Memory Care Outings program

 

  Resident Assessment and Care Planning

• Conducts assessments to determine residents’ interests, abilities,s and needs

• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop programs to satisfy individual resident needs (both group and individual programming)

 

 Family Engagement and Support

• Communicate regularly with residents’ families, provide updates, and involve family

in programming and events

• In collaboration with Social Services, offer support and resources to families coping with their loved ones’ memory challenges

• Special events planning for residents, family and friends

 

 Quality Assurance and Compliance

• Ensure that programs comply with the organization’s compliance standards as well as regulatory standards.

• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of enrichment programs, making adjustments as needed

• Track resident participation and engagement in activities

• Advocates for residents’ rights and needs within the facility and the broader community

• Stay informed about the latest research and best practices in memory care and support

 

 Financial fluency

• Develop and manage budgets for programs and activities, ensuring efficient use of resources

• Seek grants or other funding to enhance memory care program offerings

 

  Create a safe and nurturing environment

• Ensure that the physical environment is conducive to the safety and well-being of residents

• Promote a culture of respect, dignity, and empowerment for residents

 

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field such as healthcare administration, nursing, social services, gerontology or mental health

• Master’s Degree a plus

 

Experience & Skills Required

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in health-related field such as healthcare administration, nursing, social services, gerontology or mental health

• Master’s Degree a plus

• participates in ongoing professional development and training especially as related to best practices in memory care

• Significant proven (6-8+ years) experience in healthcare with a focus on senior living or memory care

• Supervisory and Leadership experience a must

• Proven experience managing operations, budgets, and staff in healthcare environment

• Clear and effective verbal and written skills to convey ideas an motivate teams

• Strong organizational skills

• Ability to make sound decisions quickly and decisively while remaining adaptable in high stress environments

• Ability to set long-term goals and develop actionable plans to achieve them

• Spanish speaking a plus

• If clinically licensed, must have valid licensure in NYS.  Must maintain active licensure while in this position

• Certifications related to dementia care such as:  Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP), National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP) etc.

 

Benefits

Compensation:  

• $130,000 - $150,000 annually
