Opportunity Description

Credit Manager needed for a direct hire position in New York, NY. This position is in the logistics services industry and the purpose of the Credit Manager will be to minimize the exposure of credit risk to the company by applying sound risk management techniques, including analysis of customer financial performance as well as review related contracts or agreements to make sure that the company's interests are protected.

Job Duties

  • Evaluate creditworthiness of new and existing accounts as demonstrated in financials, bank/trade references and information retrieved from external sources such as S&P, D&B, and industry reports.
  • Contact companies directly as needed, including visits and meetings with client company's executives.
  • Prevent or minimize losses by identifying delinquent accounts and monitoring follow-up on U.S. and international accounts receivable portfolios.
  • Combine efforts with business departments to contact customers by phone, e-mail or by the sending of past due letters to resolve payment issues and request assistance from the Legal Department when warranted.
  • Manage proper administration of the Credit Insurance Policy by reviewing credit limits, appropriate coverage of transactions and consistency with internal procedures, following up on claims and reporting of transactions 60 days past due.
  • Assist to ensure insurance policy provides the company with the most effective coverage by filing claims within the insurance terms, reviewing underwriting decisions and interfacing with underwriters, preparing reports to support the company’s positions to appeal insurance company's decisions, and determine recovery strategies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • This employee and the Associate Director work as a team to provide Risk Management services mainly to Machinery, Chemicals, Plastics, Forest Products, Foods and Mineral Resources groups, as well as, certain subsidiaries of the company in the U.S. and Latin America.  

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree wit a concentration in Finance or International Business.

Experience & Skills Required

  • A minimum of three to five years of import/export regulatory/compliance and/or operational experience required.
  • Advanced understanding of the trade credit management.
  • Advanced financial analysis experience.
  • Basic understanding of Credit Insurance. 
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, and Powerpoint).
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
